Skirts - the long and short of it!

Updated: Nov 1, 2022

Let me start this blog by saying that I LOVE clothes! I am always looking for sales and thrift stores (we'll talk about this later) and have many more clothes than I need.

AND I am short - 5'3". I do have the advantage of long legs in that short frame, which allows me to wear some styles that might not always be right for my height. Take skirts, for instance.

As I have aged, I tend to prefer longer skirts, mainly because I am more comfortable with a skirt I don't have to continually pull down when I sit. A very good friend of mine, who is no more than an inch taller than me, told me one day that I should wear short skirts because I am so short. While I feel I have pretty good legs for my age (HA), I just don't usually feel comfortable in short skirts...again for the aforementioned reason. However, to appease her a bit, I did purchase a few dresses that are knee-length or a little longer. And by the way, my friend has worn a couple of longer dresses and I think she looks great (whether she does or not!).

My point is that, no matter what your height, or weight or skinniness or fluffiness (I like this term better than chunky), wear what you feel comfortable in. If you like short skirts, wear them and rock them with boots, as long as they are tasteful. (Wouldn't want you to moon anyone!) If you like longer skirts, as I do, wear them and rock them with pretty heels.

I think most of us instinctively know what looks good on us and what doesn't. If we haven't figured that out by our age, we might need a little more fashion help. So don't let trends dictate what you wear if you aren't comfortable in them. I will probably never wear bell-bottom pants again, no matter if they are in style or not! Just not me!

Just make sure you ROCK that short skirt, or that long skirt, or anything in between.

As you can see, I like hems a little longer. This happens to be an asymmetrical hemline on a dress I found at a thrift store!
