Rock it, Baby!

Good morning! This is just my second blog post since moving to Nevada. But I just felt the urge to tell you again that it is time to Rock Your Age! That doesn't mean you have to dress like a teenager, or color your hair purple or get a nose ring. Heaven forbid! But it does mean that you don't have to sit at home and wonder why you retired, or wish you had something to do.
Rocking your age means getting out there, going to events, meeting new people, taking walks and getting into nature, taking road trips with friends. Retirement and aging doesn't have to literally "retire" you. For instance, just a couple of days ago, I met a friend, along with my family, at a local outside venue that had live music. We had such a good time, and it was so much better than just sitting inside watching tv.
I realize some ladies are not in as good physical health as they would like, but that's no reason to sit at home and brood. Join a book club, or, like me, a widow's group from church. And get into healthy eating and exercise as much as you can. (That's not my strong suit, but I am working on it, because I want to see my grandson graduate highschool and college - and he's only 5!) I drink a protein packed smoothy every morning, and try to go hiking with my son whenever he wants to go. I am not the best hiker, but I make it, and I can tell a difference.
I try to dress my age, but with style, and sometimes I take a cue from my daughter-in-law and pick up on some of the "younger" trends. That's ok. I just believe that if you look good, you feel good. (That's probably why I don't go anywhere without a little makeup!!) The main thing is getting out there, no matter your age. Even if you need a cane or a walker to get out there, just dress up your walker, and go! Don't let things like that stop you from enjoying life.
The younger generations could learn a lot from us, so no matter what, ROCK YOUR AGE!!!
